Parent-Teacher Interviews:
The B.E.N. hosts Parent-Teacher interviews twice a year with reports being distributed three times per year.
What is unique about us:
What is unique about us:
- Parent-Teacher interviews are 30 minutes in duration per child; this gives parents and teachers time to actually find out about how the child is doing specifically both at school and at home.
- Parents and teachers enjoy and look forward to Parent-Teacher interviews.
- Because of on-going communication during the trimester, there are usually no surprises at the interviews. Any challenges, significant milestones or ongoing well-being of each child is communicated with the parent during the term and thus the parent-teacher interviews are a time to see some of the child’s work, share stories and discuss next steps
Our Assessment Grid
Children at the B.E.N. School-House are assessed based on their ‘Willingness to Try.’ It is natural for a child to want to learn and to put effort into learning. If there is an area where a child does not put effort, the teacher and parent discuss it together to try to understand what is going on and to help the child. Because of the continual communication between teachers and parents, nothing should be a surprise during the assessment meetings.
We work with an assessment grid that looks at the child’s willingness to try in 4 main areas listed below and then within each area, we look at specifics:
Our reports to parents are detailed summaries written by teachers and are between 1 to 3 pages long.
The reports list how your child does in each subject, how he/she interacts with peers, how he/she behaves in various other situations and how he/she does physically.
